A research study helped Cory...

A research study helped Cory pick up the pieces of his life, thanks to you  💙

Life after serving in the Canadian Forces Military Police was extremely difficult for Cory Taylor - symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) took over his life. He experienced severe anxiety, panic attacks, and resorted to anger as a default. Cory's demeanor had been affected so much that he became unrecognizable to his family.

But when he turned to The Royal, a simple procedure marked a turning point in his life.

Courage, strength, and a supportive team helped Sharon thrive

Sharon credits many people for her positive experience as a patient at The Royal decades ago, especially the dedicated doctors, caring staff, and her supportive family.

One person Sharon holds deep gratitude for is Lisa, a clinical nurse specialist who has devoted over 35 years to The Royal. Support from Lisa is what drives Sharon to give back as a peer supporter, educator, and advocate, helping others navigate their own mental illness with the same care and compassion that she experienced.

Opening a Music & Mental Health Research Clinic at The Royal!

The Royal celebrated the inauguration of the Music and Mental Health Research Clinic earlier this month. Led by Dr. Gilles Comeau, senior scientist at The Royal, the goal of this initiative is to integrate personalized music-making and movement treatments into mental health care.

Hosted by André Picard of the Globe and Mail, the ceremony included remarks from The Royal's CEO and President Cara Vaccarino, President of the Institute of Mental Health Research Dr. Florence Dzierszinski, and a keynote address from General Roméo Dallaire.

A recap of the 2024 Leaders for Mental Health Breakfast

On October 9th, The Royal hosted the 17th Leaders for Mental Health Breakfast. Hundreds of business and community leaders, innovators, and healthcare providers gathered for a common goal: to improve access to better care for those with mental illness in our community.

Thank you to the event’s sponsors, speakers, and supporters. Your leadership and generosity are changing lives.

On behalf of our staff, clients, and their families, we sincerely thank you for all of your support and contributions.
